WATCH ME GROW
From tiny newborn to my new home
From here you can follow all of my updates—from the first day my eyes open to my first outdoor playtime and everything in between. Each week, a new group of photos will be added so you can watch me grow. Right now my adventures may be mostly sleeping and eating, but before you know it, I’ll be carrying this purple hedgehog all around the house and yard!
· NEW TO THE WORLD · The first 24 hours
Red Girl may be brand new to the world, but she’s already doing a little exploring. She spent some time getting acquainted with her purple hedgehog, ventured off on her own, and somehow found herself right back beside her new friend. For now, though, all that adventuring still ends with plenty of sleeping and snuggling close to Mom.
Just me and my hedgehog
Okay, I’ve got places to be!
Off on my own little adventure
Oh, there you are again!
WEEK ONE · GROWING EVERY DAY
Red Girl is growing stronger and more adventurous every day, weighing in at 1.36 pounds on September 2. She’s getting more mobile and spent plenty of time this week investigating her purple hedgehog—climbing over it, snuggling beside it, and discovering that it makes a pretty comfortable pillow after all that exploring.
“I have conquered the hedgehog!”
“It also makes a pretty good pillow.”
“Just checking things out…”
“Coming through!”
WEEK TWO · EYES OPEN & ON THE MOVE
Red Girl weighed 2.38 pounds on September 11, and both of her eyes are now open to take in her growing world. Her pigment is continuing to develop, with light black beginning to show along her nose and lips while her little toe beans are still pink. She’s becoming more mobile every day—and Red Girl has also discovered her voice. Whether she’s exploring, looking for Mom, or simply has something to say, this little girl is rarely shy about making herself heard!
Look at me go!
Oh, hello again!
I think I can climb this…
Okay… maybe I’ll just stay right here.
WEEK THREE & FOUR · A BIGGER WORLD TO EXPLORE
Red Girl is up to 3.66 pounds, and her world has gotten much bigger over the past couple of weeks. She and her littermates have been meeting visitors, getting their first tastes of food, and beginning to explore outside. With steadier legs and plenty of curiosity, she’s spending more time investigating everything around her—and, as usual, she still seems to have plenty to say about it! Her purple hedgehog continues to join her for the weekly photos, although this week it may have gotten the upper hand once or twice.
“Hmm… where should I go first?”
“Wait… are you taking my picture?”
“I may have underestimated the hedgehog.”
“Okay, I’m off to explore!”
Week 5 – Red Girl ❤️
What a busy and exciting week for our little fluffballs! At five weeks old, the puppies are enjoying their puppy food, spending their days playing on the covered porch when the weather cooperates, and discovering just how much fun visitors can be. They even had a special outing to spend time with the 4-H kids on Monday, followed by an afternoon full of visitors later in the week! Those adorable little ears are beginning to stand up, giving each puppy a look all their own. Best of all, every one of these sweet babies now has a family eagerly awaiting their homecoming!
Our biggest girl, Red Girl, weighed in at 5.94 pounds on October 2! During her photo session, she showed off her growing fluff and those adorable ears—one standing tall while the other is still deciding what to do! She posed sweetly beside her purple hedgehog before turning her attention to investigating the blanket, proving that even a little photo model has important puppy business to attend to!
"One ear up, one ear down… I'm still figuring out my signature look!"
"Excuse me, Mr. Hedgehog. Are you going to play with me or just sit there looking fluffy?"
"There's something interesting down here. I just know it!"
"Photo time is over! I've got important puppy exploring to do!"
